Happy Viability!

Dear Boys,

Happy Viability Day, my sweet sons! Today, we have reached the much anticipated milestone of 24 weeks which means that if you were born today, you would have a chance at life outside Mommy. That said, please try to stay inside as long as you can, for another eight or ten weeks. Every day you stay inside, you grow stronger and more ready for the world, more ready to meet your family. If you can make it just another four weeks, we are almost guaranteed that you'll be healthy and here to stay. So listen to Mommy, since I know what is best in this case, and stay inside. I am doing everything I can to make sure my body keeps you safe.

Enjoy the days of swimming in a warm and safe place, of feeling your brothers right next to you and hearing our muffled voices. We can hardly wait to see your faces, kiss your heads and hold your little hands. We have been waiting so very long for you to make our family complete, and we can wait a little longer while your bodies grow bigger and stronger.

I love you!
Mommy

Here is a song for you, boys. Coldplay's "A Message". When I was trying to conceive your sister, and then you, I felt like this song sang to you, my future children whom I wanted so badly. Now sometimes I listen to it and imagine you singing it to me. Here are the lyrics. (Give it a listen, but don't watch the silly homemade Youtube video.)

The boys, in alphabetical order:

And the (ginormous) belly in which they reside:

Tomorrow I have a full growth ultrasound to see how big the boys are, and a cervical measurement. Hopefully it is unchanged or has grown, but it is not so likely. I will bring my hospital bag and be prepared for admittance (which as Miss MVK suggested may jinx me into getting to come home) for a while. Thank you again for all the cheers, support and celebration!

  6. Congrats on viability - that's a huge milestone! You're still looking pretty small, and will hopefully be much bigger before you deliver. Best of luck with your scan tomorrow. DH swears that being prepared (ie taking a coat/umbrella when it looks like rain) is the best way to avoid getting caught in a storm, so hopefully taking your bag will work for you too!

  9. Happy V Day!

Jinxing the hospitalization away by being prepared with luggage is a great idea. Maybe I'll do the same thing at my next appointment on Tuesday.

Your belly is not ginormous at all. There are three people in there! It is the perfect size.

Wishing you the absolute best of luck tomorrow.

  18. Woo hoo! Yay for viability! One more target reached! I'm personally holding out for 31+ weeks for you and your boys... I'll be back from my vacation by then (before my vacation is just too soon) and I won't miss the announcement.

Sending prayers that tomorrow's scan will be nothing but good news and that you will have another week at home!

  20. Dear, Sweet Boys, Please listen to your mother. In about three years you can defiantly choose not to, but for now, for the next ten weeks, listen to her. She loves you and she knows what's very best. She may not even make you eat your peas if you stay in there awhile longer.

    kisses to you all

  23. You are beautiful! And the babies are breathtaking! I am so glad that you have reached (and now surpassed viability day!) And boys, listen to Mama: stay inside a LONG time! At least until October... It's a good month... Nice birthstone... :) I am so thrilled for you!

Please post as SOON as you get back from the doctor so that we can hear about those hefty weights and a happy cervix! Good thoughts coming your way!

    Big hugs!!!

  25. Yea!!! I will be joining your celebration tomorrow! I will keep my fingers crossed for your appointment today. The packing of a bag may actually work-I did that when I thought I was having major contractions and was going to the hospital to get checked out. I left it in the car, but luckily I didn't need it because everything was fine. Hopefully the same will happen for you!
